This is actually what could happen...

All computers will instantly vaporise, closely followed by any electrical appliance currently attached to the power grid. Soon after, anything electrical that was not connected at midnight will explode from all the pent up electricity that was not allowed to vent itself into the power grid. Exactly 31.3 seconds later, any person who has ever touched a computer or other electrical appliance will begin to lose their fingers one by one, and anyone who has even thought about the letters Y2K will have their hair catch on fire. Angels and demons will descend from their lairs and create havoc among the living for the pitiful few seconds until the entire universe explodes in a cataclysmic conflagration of cacophony.
